Food poisoning suspected as 5 found dead in Edo community

Five individuals, including two brothers and a woman, were found dead on Saturday in a room in Uzairue, located in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

Reports indicate that the discovery was made under unusual circumstances, with all victims found lifeless in a single room.

Family members grew concerned when the individuals failed to emerge from their room, leading to the tragic discovery.

Among the deceased were two siblings, while the others were reportedly friends of the family.

Initial findings point to possible causes, including generator fumes and food poisoning, as authorities work to determine the exact cause of death.

The Auchi Area Commander and the DPO of Jattu Police Station have stated that no definitive cause will be confirmed until the investigation is concluded.

Confirming the incident, State Police Command spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, said, “The command is aware. But investigation to unravel the cause of death is ongoing.”
