Northern govs, traditional rulers meet with CDS Musa over insecurity

In a significant gathering aimed at addressing escalating insecurity and socio-economic issues in Northern Nigeria, governors from the region’s 19 states convened on Monday with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa.
The meeting focused on pressing concerns such as rising poverty levels, a growing number of out-of-school children, and the persistent threat of insecurity.
Chaired by Inuwa Yahaya, Governor of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, the meeting took place at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna, hosted by Governor Uba Sani.
A range of officials attended, including governors from Kaduna, Zamfara, Nasarawa, and other Northern states, as well as deputy governors and traditional rulers.
During the session, General Musa provided an update on the military’s ongoing efforts to combat banditry, terrorism, and other security threats affecting the region.
The participation of prominent traditional leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Shehu of Borno, and Emir of Zazzau, highlighted the critical need for collaborative action in addressing these multifaceted challenges.
In their opening statements, Governors Yahaya and Sani emphasized the severe impact of insecurity on the economic development of Northern Nigeria.
They called for a unified approach to restore stability and promote development, underscoring the urgent need for effective strategies to address the underlying issues affecting the region.
