Police nab suspected kidnapper, recover ransom share

The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspected kidnapper and recovered N547,000 believed to be part of the ransom proceeds.
Ramhan Nansel, spokesperson for the Command, disclosed the development to journalists on Sunday.
According to Nansel, the recovered amount represents a portion of the ransom collected for the abduction of Ciroman Fulani from Arugbadu village in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.

“On 27/10/2024, around 11:30 a.m., police operatives from the 38 PMF Akwanga, in collaboration with officers from the Nasarawa Eggon Division, arrested one Abdul Zakari of Konba village, Wamba Local Government Area. His arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping case,” Nansel said.
“During interrogation, the suspect admitted being part of the group that kidnapped Ciroman Fulani from Arugbadu. The group collected a ransom of five million Naira (N5m), out of which he received 1.2 million Naira as his share,” Nansel added.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has directed officers to intensify efforts to track down other members of the syndicate still at large.
Nadada also commended the police team for maintaining pressure on criminal elements across the state.
