Air Peace announces 100% hike in ticket prices as festive season approaches

Nigerian airline Air Peace has announced a significant 100% fare increase across all local routes, effective November 1, 2024, adding a new financial strain on travelers heading into the holiday season.
The airline communicated this update via email to its customers, stating, “Please be informed that effective 1st November 2024, Air Peace would be adding a 100% increase to their fares across all local routes.”
For example, as of October 25, a one-way flight ticket from Lagos to Abuja costs N143,000. With the new fare adjustments, this price is expected to double to approximately N286,000, impacting Nigerians’ travel plans during the year-end festivals and family reunions.

Air Peace has not yet issued a public comment on the reasons behind this sharp increase.
However, this change will undoubtedly affect many Nigerians who rely on air travel as a safer alternative, particularly in light of growing security concerns in various parts of the country. Rising airfares may further limit travel options, especially for average Nigerians who already face high travel costs.
The price hike also comes shortly after President Bola Tinubu raised the petrol pump price to over N1,000, prompting an increase in nationwide transport fares.
With both air and land travel costs rising sharply, the financial burden on Nigerian travelers is set to increase, making mobility across the country a costly challenge this festive season.
