Former Kwara lawmaker Aliyu Patigi is dead

Aliyu Bahago Ahman Patigi, a prominent political leader from Kwara State and former member of the House of Representatives, has passed away.

Patigi served as the representative for the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency from 2007 to 2019, leaving a significant legacy in his community.

His family announced his passing in a statement on Thursday, marking the loss of the respected lawmaker and Pro-Chancellor of Ahman Patigi University, located in Patigi, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

“His contributions to education and politics will be remembered. May his family and loved ones find comfort during this difficult time,” the statement added.

During his tenure, he was known for advocating development in his community and pushing forward legislative agendas that improved the socio-economic conditions of his constituents.

One of his most notable achievements was founding Ahman Pategi University in 2021 in Kwara State.

The university, which was named after his father, a former First Republic Minister of Agriculture and Health, was established with the goal of providing quality education to the North Central region, particularly the Nupe community.

As the Pro-Chancellor of Ahman Pategi University, he oversaw its growth and championed initiatives aimed at fostering education and development in his hometown.
