The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has escalated following a Federal High Court in Zamfara State’s refusal to grant an ex parte order sought by the faction aligned with Governor Bala Mohammed, chairman of the PDP Governors Forum.

The ruling, delivered on Tuesday, prevents the faction from holding the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

This development is the latest in the power struggle within the PDP, where some governors, led by Mohammed, have attempted to remove acting national chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum.

The move has faced significant opposition from stakeholders loyal to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

Previously, a Federal High Court in Abuja had issued an order preventing the removal of Damagum, reinforcing his position within the party’s leadership.

The current ruling in Zamfara adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing conflict within the PDP, as the party grapples with leadership disputes and internal divisions.

The crisis is expected to have significant implications for the party’s future, particularly as it prepares for upcoming elections and navigates the ongoing tension between its various factions.
