Security operatives thwart bandits attack, rescue 6 kidnap victims in Katsina

A combined team of police, military, Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and local vigilantes successfully thwarted a bandits’ attack on Saturday, rescuing six abducted victims in Jibia town, Katsina State.
The incident occurred at Unguwar Batsaka quarters in Jibia local government area after armed bandits launched an assault with the intent to abduct residents.
According to the spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, Sadiq Abubakar, a distress call was received at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Saturday at the Jibia Divisional Police headquarters, prompting an immediate response.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) mobilized a team that included military forces, KSCWC members, and local vigilantes.

The operatives engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle that lasted about an hour, forcing the bandits to flee after sustaining gunshot wounds.
During the operation, six abducted victims were rescued and immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention. Tragically, one of the victims, identified as Rabe Mai Shayi, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
The Command has intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing bandits and is urging residents to report any information related to criminal activities to the nearest police station for swift action.
