Police nab receptionist, manager over death of Fani-Kayode’s aide

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has expressed deep sorrow following the sudden death of his longtime aide, Ndifreke Saviour Mark, who passed away in a hotel in Abuja on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
Ndifreke, who had served Fani-Kayode for 34 years, was described as his “most trusted aide” and “adopted son.”
The 52-year-old attended a morning church service at the Catholic Church of Assumption in Asokoro before heading to Mildy Lodge and Apartments in Garki, Abuja, where he tragically collapsed in the presence of an unidentified person. He was rushed to Asokoro District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Fani-Kayode revealed that police are currently investigating the incident, with the individual present at the time of Ndifreke’s death, as well as the receptionist and manager of the hotel, being detained for questioning. The hotel room has also been sealed off for further investigation.
In his emotional tribute, Fani-Kayode reflected on the close bond he shared with Ndifreke, vowing to seek justice if any foul play is uncovered. He also assured Ndifreke’s family, including his wife, Barrister Patience Ndifreke-Mark, of his unwavering support during this difficult time.
“Mark was like a son to me, and his passing is a huge blow to me and my entire family. I have absolute confidence in the FCT Police Command to get to the bottom of this matter, after which we can proceed to bury a man who was my most loyal staff and trusted aide,” Fani-Kayode said.
All efforts to get the reaction of FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, were futile. She is yet to respond to calls and messages put across as of the time of filing this report.
