BREAKING : TCN restores electricity supply after grid disruption

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has attributed the recent disruption in the national grid to an explosion at a transformer within the Jebba transmission substation.

According to the TCN, engineers acted promptly by activating the system’s protective mechanisms, which opened the busbars to contain the explosion. This quick response prevented a fire outbreak and further damage to nearby equipment.

The company explained that the operation of the protective system caused the temporary disturbance across the grid.

TCN further disclosed that its engineers at the Jebba substation successfully isolated the faulty current transformer and reconfigured the busbar arrangement.

With these corrective measures in place, electricity supply was restored to the station and other affected parts of the grid.
