How young man was found dead along Dangote-Afami road – Police

A 24-year-old man, identified as Dada Adesonye, was discovered dead, suspected to have taken his own life by hanging in the Afami area of Imasayi, Yewa North Local Government Area, Ogun State.
According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, The lifeless body was found on Friday morning by a worker near the scene.
Odutola disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) reported the incident around 8:27 a.m. after receiving information from an employee of Dangote Cement Transport in Ibese.
The employee had stumbled upon the body at about 8:10 a.m. along the Dangote-Afami Road and promptly notified the police.

She explained, “On October 18, 2024, at approximately 08:27 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer reported a suspected suicide incident. An Assistant at Dangote Cement Transport in Ibese informed the Dangote Police Post that he discovered a lifeless body around 8:10 a.m.
“The deceased, later identified as Dada Opeyemi Adesonye, a 24-year-old from Abeokuta, was found hanging from a tree along Dangote-Afami Road. The duty officer at the police post promptly alerted law enforcement, and a team was dispatched to the scene.
“Upon investigation, photographs were taken, revealing no signs of violence on the body. Personal items found in the deceased’s pockets included a payment card, a key holder, an earbud, and N2,000.”
Following the investigation, the police released the body to the family for burial.
Odutola advised families to monitor loved ones closely for any troubling behavior, given the increase in youth suicide cases.
“Further updates will be provided, and in the meantime, please remain calm and vigilant,” she said.
The police reiterated the importance of families remaining observant and supportive to curb the rising trend of youth suicides.
