Stop targeting PAP administrator, Ijaw youths warn detractors

The Ijaw Youths Network (IYN) has issued a fresh warning to individuals allegedly troubled by the rising influence of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), urging them to halt media campaigns aimed at discrediting him.
The group encouraged Otuaro to ignore detractors working to undermine his efforts to reposition the PAP for the benefit of the Niger Delta region.
In a statement released on Wednesday, signed by IYN President Frank Ebikabo and Secretary Federal Ebiaridor, the organization expressed concern over what it described as persistent attempts by unscrupulous elements to tarnish Otuaro’s reputation.

The statement criticized ongoing efforts to link Otuaro to a supposed leaked document involving the Department of State Services (DSS), calling the allegations baseless and undeserving of public attention.
The group said the PAP office is neither an extension nor an annex of the Department of State Services (DSS), adding that the security agency is known for its thorough operations and ability to detect any irregularities within government establishments.
The IYN called on well-meaning individuals in the Niger Delta to denounce what it described as a “senseless conspiracy” orchestrated by self-serving individuals masquerading as concerned citizens.
Highlighting the achievements of Otuaro since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in March 2024, the group noted that his grassroots engagement with traditional leaders, youth groups, women, and ex-agitators has been impactful.
“We urge those who are used to getting free monies from the Presidential Amnesty Programme through blackmail of leaders to desist.
“We commend Dr Dennis Otuaro for the productive interactions he has had with various segments of Niger Delta stakeholders such as traditional rulers, women and youth groups and ex-agitators.
“The people of the Niger Delta are waiting for the administrator to effectively utilize available resources, to make the PAP scholarship scheme more useful to the region,” the Ijaw youths said.
The group pointed to a recent declaration of support from 21 prominent regional groups as evidence that Otuaro is on the right path and should maintain his focus on building a lasting legacy.
Additionally, the IYN advised Ijaw youths to reject efforts by detractors attempting to drag the name of High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, into unrelated controversies.
