Man gunned down after he went out to meet strange caller in Edo

A tragic incident occurred in Edo State, where Abdulrafiu Afegbua, a middle-aged man, was killed by gunmen suspected to be assassins.

The attack took place on October 5 in the Awoyemi area of the Okpella community, located in Etsako East Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that Afegbua received a phone call late at night while at home with his wife. Despite her pleas for him to ignore the call, he rushed out to meet the unidentified caller.

Shortly after he left, Afegbua was shot at close range in the chest and neck, leading to his death.

After waiting for her husband’s return and receiving no response to her calls, Afegbua’s wife alerted others. A search party later found his body in a nearby bush, along with his abandoned motorbike.

Edo State Police spokesperson, Superintendent Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing. Authorities are working diligently to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
