El-Rufai’s wife ‘schools’ Shehu Sani on grammar in social media exchange

Hadiza El-Rufai, the former First Lady of Kaduna State, has openly schooled former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, on grammar in a social media exchange.
Sani had posted on his verified X handle (formerly Twitter) about President Bola Tinubu’s foreign trip and its reported impact on taxes and commodity prices.
“New law of economics; When the President travels out, taxes and prices goes up,” he wrote.
Reacting to the post, Mrs El-Rufai, who is known for correcting bad English on X, spotted the post and corrected the former lawmaker.

She said Sani’s post should have read ‘’go up” and not ‘’goes up.”
This is not the first time El-Rufai has corrected someone’s grammar on social media, and it is also not the first time she and Sani have clashed.
The two have a history of disagreements, dating back to when Sani was a senator representing Kaduna Central.
In fact, Sani had reportedly asked then Governor Nasir El-Rufai to caution his wife from commenting on his hair, which he felt constituted hate speech .
