Benue gov swears in newly elected LG chairmen
Hyacinth Alia

Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, has officially sworn in the 23 newly elected Local Government Chairmen, marking a significant step in local governance.

This event took place shortly after similar ceremonies in other states, including one conducted by Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Alia emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in governance.

He urged the new chairmen to diligently fulfill their responsibilities, ensuring that their actions benefit the communities they serve.

It’s worth noting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a clean sweep in the recent elections, securing all 23 chairmanship positions along with 276 councillorship seats across the state.

Governor Alia reminded the elected officials of their commitment to the people and urged them to work collaboratively with both state and federal governments to promote good governance and improve the lives of their constituents.

The governor said, “This event marks a significant movement in the life and future of LG administration in Benue, especially as it concerns people at the grassroots who came out in their numbers on Saturday overwhelmingly to choose you at the polls.

“Be reminded that leadership is about service and sacrifice and not personal glory,” he said.

Also speaking, Dennis Guda of Vandiekya LGA who represented the newly elected chairmen assured the people of delivering quality service and good governance.

Guda also promised to remain loyal to the APC while upholding the party’s constitution and collaborate with the state government to succeed.
