Real reason Jesus, apostles did not collect tithes -Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has offered insight into why Jesus Christ did not collect tithes during His ministry.
During the October Holy Ghost Service at the church’s Redemption City, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, Adeboye addressed the matter, responding to a sermon by an unnamed RCCG pastor who argued against tithing based on the fact that Jesus never collected it.
Adeboye took the opportunity to clarify the pastor’s position, shortly after apologizing for previously stating that non-tithers might not make it to heaven, and describing 10% tithing as merely a starting point.

Recounting the event, Adeboye said, “One of my pastors went online and delivered a sermon claiming people shouldn’t pay tithes because Jesus didn’t collect tithes. I watched it, hoping to learn something new. Then I realized he was arguing that Jesus didn’t take tithes, and I thought to myself, ‘Jesus wasn’t a parish pastor, He was a global evangelist.’”
He added, “It was disappointing because the sermon didn’t present anything original; it was just a repetition of what others have said.” He expressed further dissatisfaction, describing the sermon as “shallow.”
Addressing the matter further, Adeboye explained that Jesus did not collect tithes because His role was not that of a local church pastor, but rather a global preacher. Citing the Bible, specifically Luke 8:1-3, he pointed out that certain women, including Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna, provided financial support to Jesus’ ministry.
Adeboye also explained that the apostles did not collect tithes either, as their focus was global outreach rather than local pastoral duties. He concluded by warning against forming ministry-support groups with women for inappropriate reasons, cautioning about the potential for moral lapses in such arrangements.
