Strike looms as ASUU holds crucial meeting in Abuja

The national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is set to hold a critical meeting today in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This meeting follows a series of strike warnings issued to the Federal Government, citing unfulfilled promises and unresolved grievances.

On September 24, ASUU issued a 14-day strike notice, threatening to shut down universities across the country if their demands were not met.

This came after an earlier 21-day ultimatum was given on August 18, urging the government to take action.

As ASUU prepares to deliver a “State of the Nation” address during today’s meeting, students and university communities are left in uncertainty over the possibility of another strike, which could disrupt academic activities nationwide.

The outcome of the meeting is eagerly awaited as both staff and students hope for a resolution to avert a looming shutdown of the education sector.
