Tragic accident claims 10 lives on Lagos-Badagry expressway

A devastating accident on Tuesday night claimed the lives of ten individuals when a Toyota Sienna bus collided with a stationary truck at Abule Osun, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), reported that emergency services were activated following distress calls received at 11:07 PM. The LASEMA Dolphin Response Team from Igando Base was promptly dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, responders found that the Toyota Sienna, carrying passengers from the eastern part of the country, had crashed into a SHACMAN truck that was parked on the road and blocking about half of the carriageway. The truck, laden with granite, was not visible in time for the bus, which was traveling at high speed.

The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of ten people, including three adult males, four adult females, two female children, and one male child. Three additional individuals sustained critical injuries.
Emergency officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) transported one female adult and two children to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The wreckage of the Toyota Sienna was recovered using LASEMA’s tow truck and taken to the FRSC station. The surviving female adult and two children received immediate medical attention from LASAMBUS at the scene before being transferred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for further care.
This unfortunate incident highlights the ongoing challenges of road safety and the need for increased vigilance among drivers and vehicle operators.
